NAES Environmental Services Successful Pre-Mobilization effort results in Zero NOVs related to Environmental Performance
Gainesville, Florida: Deerhaven Renewable Generating Station (DHR) is a 102 MW biomass facility owned by the City of Gainesville, Florida. The plant utilizes a 102 MW Bubbling Fluidized Bed Boiler and associated steam turbine that burns sustainably sourced, clean, woody biomass to provide renewable power to the 93,000 customers of Gainesville Regional Utilities. Since the pre-mobilization effort, NAES has provided Environmental Compliance Support Services at the facility and minimized NOVs related to Environmental performance to 0.
The plant started operations in 2013, under the management of Energy Management Inc (EMI), and had an ownership change in November 2017 to Gainesville Regional Authority. During this ownership change, NAES Environmental Services was able to step in and assist with a seamless transition to an on-going full environmental compliance support program after the loss of plant EHS Coordinator personnel. Today, NAES Environmental Services continues to provide support and training to the GRU Environmental Group on routine DHR environmental programs.
To achieve this success, NAES Environmental Services has:
- Provided a consistent and rigorous commitment to compliance 100% of the time despite limited dispatch and operations
- Provided on-site and remote support services that ensure regulatory compliance and reinforce NAES standards with regards to both Compliance and Safety
- Fully integrated the Owner Utility and NAES Staff responsibilities, procedures, operations and reporting in order to minimize Environmental Compliance risk
