McIntosh Steam Turbine Overhaul
City of Lakeland, McIntosh Power Plant - Lakeland City, FL
During the 2006 fall outage cycle at the 830 MW McIntosh Generating Station, NAESsm performed a major inspection and overhaul on Unit 2, a 125 MW Westinghouse steam turbine generator. The facility, the largest of the two power plants owned by The City of Lakeland, utilizes both steam and gas turbine generators.
NAES performed the following services:
- Complete disassembly
- Inspection of HP/IP, LP cases and valves
- Inspection of turning gear, front standard and EHC
- Removal of the HP/IP, LP and generator rotors
- Steam path audit and evaluation
- Blast clean and NDE of all steam path components
- Open case alignment of entire steam path
- Major realignment of turbine cases
- Reassembly of unit, oil flush and start up
