El Paso Energy, Brazil Major Maintenance Contract
NAES was awarded a long-term contract with El Paso Energy International (El Paso) to provide technical and mechanical services for two GE Frame 7 gas turbine generator units at a 24 MW power facility located in Manaus, Brazil. NAES was selected due to its highly trained, quality personnel and a long history of maintaining GE equipment.
The facility, which El Paso owns through its subsidiary company El Paso Energia Amazonas Ltda, provides a substantial portion of the power for Manaus, a city of over 2 million. El Paso aims to provide reliable and economical power to fulfill its contractual obligation and for its success as a business enterprise. The two GE units generate a major portion of the capacity at the facility.
The project has two elements:
- Major Maintenance:
• Borescope inspections
• Combustion inspections
• Hot gas path inspections
• Major inspection
• Managing parts, repair and procurement
• Provide recommended spare parts lists (RSPL) for the two units
- Predictive Maintenance Program, with a full-time engineer assigned to the plant. NAES uses data in its predictive maintenance program to avoid unscheduled outages and determine inspection cycles, allowing El Paso to extend the cycles between OEM fired-hour recommendations, resulting in significant cost savings.
