EGE Haina Steam Turbine Repairs
NAES met an extremely stringent time schedule for accomplishing each project and without any quality, safety, health, or environmental issues.
EGE Haina is the privatized successor of the state owned utility for the Dominican Republic on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, where three major facilities (and several smaller facilities) at various locations produce power for the entire country. Fuel oil is imported to run the plant boilers and turbines, as the island does not contain any petroleum reserves. Over the years, plant machinery has deteriorated, reliability has been compromised, and capacity reduced. EGE Haina began a program to upgrade the equipment and increase reliability by inspecting and repairing the major generation equipment, beginning with the largest unit at the capital city of Santo Domingo.
NAES performed the following services, and also selected and procured complex turbine maintenance tools and instruments while arranging, retaining, managing, and coordinating numerous specialty contractors.
- Rio Haina Plant, Santo Domingo - disassembly, repair, reassembly, and startup of 84 MW GE steam turbine on an emergency basis
- Puerto Plata Plant, Puerto Plata - disassembly, repair, reassembly, and startup of 28 MW GE steam turbine
