Bluegrass Switchyard Construction

Greenfield construction of a four-breaker ring bus configuration, 345 kV switchyard. The switchyard feeds the combined output of 500 MW from three combustion turbines at the Bluegrass Generating Station into the local transmission system at 345 kV. The switchyard is interconnected to the Louisville Gas & Electric 345 kV transmission system at two separate positions on the ring bus. The ring bus can be sectionalized, and the interconnections can be isolated through the flexible use of the motor-operated air-break circuit switches and breakers.

NAES Power Contractors was responsible for all labor, site management, documentation, and materials for the project under an engineering, procurement, and construction contract.
