Benning Road Stack Construction
On site stack construction at the 500 MW Benning Road Generation Station, which consists of two oil fired boilers: one Combustion Engineering boiler and one Babcock & Wilcox boiler. NAES Power Contractors was originally contracted to repair the existing 177’ steel stack, but due to its condition, a decision was made to the demolish and rebuild the stack. Acting as the EPC contractor, NAES Power Contractors completed the project in less than three months.
NAES Power Contractors mobilized the proper equipment and key personnel to demolish the existing steel stack in a safe manner. While performing the demolition, NAES Power Contractors began the engineering, procurement and fabrication of the new stack. Steel for the new stack began arriving as the demolition was being completed, which minimized downtime. The new stack was constructed without incident on time and within budget.
