NAES Power Contractors Awarded Alaska Construction Project
ISSAQUAH, WA NAESsm Corporation, a broad-based provider of services to the energy industry, announces that NAES Power Contractors, Inc. has been awarded a GE LM 6000 gas turbine construction project near Soldotna, Alaska.
Homer Electric Association (HEA), doing business as Alaska Electric and Energy Cooperative (AEEC), is installing an LM 6000 simple cycle gas turbine at the Soldotna Power Plant located just outside of Soldotna, Alaska. To facilitate the schedule and to accommodate lead time for shop drawings for owner supplied equipment, the project has been divided into three phases. AEEC has contracted with NAES Power Contractors for Phase 3 of the project, which includes turbine placement, stack assembly and erection, installation of all ancillary systems and equipment, and start up and commissioning. The plant is scheduled to be operational by October 2013.
"We are proud to have been selected as the prime contractor on this project, which will satisfy the ever increasing energy demands in the Kenai Peninsula," said Will Day, Vice President and General Manager of NAES Power Contractors. "NAES extensive industry experience and proven track record will support AEEC in meeting the commercial operations date."
HEA General Manager Brad Janorschke expressed confidence in the ability of NAES to successfully construct the project. "NAES has a proven track record in the power generation industry. We look forward to working with NAES, and with Great River Energy, who is lending project management assistance during construction, to successfully bring the Soldotna Power Plant on line," said Janorschke.
